The Army on the March

An assignment for my Graphic Communication Class. The Assignment was to create a page for a calendar based on a chapter off Sun Tzu's Art of War (孙子兵法). I chose the chapter 'The Army on the March' (行军), and the month of March since it coincided with the name of the chapter.

The calendar features an ancient Chinese army general, with the calendar dates on his cape made to look like a map with strategic positions marked out.

The hardcopy submission had glow in the dark sand stuck to the Chinese characters to give them texture and emphasis, and to add an element of surprise to the piece, as if to illustrate a scene of an army moving under the shade of night.
